Day 1 of DevOpsDays Rockies 2024 kicked off with plenty of excitement, and we at Kloudfuse were thrilled to debut our Unified Observability Suite. With an open data lake, 100% private Kubernetes (K8s) deployment, elegantly designed troubleshooting workflows, and a game-changing pricing model, we’re setting a new standard for observability in the DevOps space. Here are the top 3 takeaways from an action-packed first day:

1. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: Day 1 was all about community. Whether it was vendors fueling us with coffee and snacks (shout out to Observe and Elastic) or the insightful talks and open spaces, the key message was clear: DevOps is a team sport. Collaboration across teams, vendors, and peers is essential in navigating the ever-changing landscape of DevOps challenges. The more we share, the more we grow.

2. Open Source: Friend or Frenemy?: The day’s talks didn’t shy away from calling out the elephant in the room—open-source vulnerabilities. As more teams rely on open-source tools, it’s crucial to stay ahead of security threats. But here’s the kicker: it’s not just about finding bugs; it’s about securing the entire supply chain. Day 1 served as a reminder that in the world of DevOps, keeping your guard up isn’t paranoia—it’s a survival strategy.

3. Burnout is Real, Let’s Fix On-Call: If there was one thing everyone agreed on, it’s that on-call rotations can be brutal. The sessions tackled this head-on, offering up practical solutions to avoid team burnout. The takeaway? Balance the load, share the pain, and give engineers the support they need. DevOps doesn’t have to feel like a 24/7 grind—sustainable on-call practices are key to keeping your team happy and your systems running smoothly.
