What will Grafana Cloud actually cost you?
Set the telemetry you generate — logs, traces, metrics, RUM sessions and your Kubernetes footprint — plus how much survives sampling and Grafana's Adaptive features, to estimate a Grafana Cloud invoice from public list pricing. The Kloudfuse in-VPC tier price sits beside it. Everything runs in your browser.
Grafana Cloud pricing questions
The cost drivers behind a Grafana Cloud invoice — and how an ingestion-based model changes the math.
How does Grafana Cloud pricing work?
Pro is a $19/mo platform fee plus metered usage. Logs and traces bill on three operations — process ($0.05/GB), write ($0.40/GB) and retain ($0.10/GB) — each volume-tiered, so the marginal rate falls as you grow (write drops to $0.37 above 1,000 GB and $0.355 above 2,500 GB), with the first 50 GB of each operation free. Metrics bill per billable active series ($6.50 per 1,000 above 10,000 free), RUM per 1,000 sessions, and Kubernetes per node- and container-hour. Grafana also charges for profiles, Application and Database Observability host hours, synthetics and per-user seats — those sit on top of the figure shown here.
Why does cardinality cost so much?
A billable series is a unique metric name plus label combination. Adding one high-cardinality label — pod, container ID, user ID — multiplies series across every existing combination, and each 1,000 series costs $6.50/mo at low resolution ($16 at high). Metrics volume here converts to series at roughly 60 GB per 100,000 series at a 60-second scrape, then Adaptive Metrics keeps the share you set.
Why do host-hour charges stack on telemetry?
Kubernetes Monitoring bills $0.01/node-hour plus $0.0007/container-hour on top of the metrics, logs and traces those nodes produce, so one scale-out event raises several line items at once. Grafana bills Application Observability ($0.025/host-hour) and Database Observability ($0.07/host-hour) the same way.
Does Adaptive Logs reduce the whole log bill?
No. Adaptive telemetry reduction applies to the write and retain operations; process still bills the full volume you ship, because the data has already arrived before it is dropped. Trace sampling is different — it happens before shipping, so the sampled volume is all Grafana ever sees, and all three operations bill on it.
How does Kloudfuse compare on cost?
Kloudfuse runs inside your own cloud account and is priced on terabytes ingested per day — one fixed annual price for the tier covering your volume, with no per-series charge, no DPM multiplier, no host-hour fees and no per-seat charges. Cloud compute and storage go straight to your own cloud provider. Talk to us for an exact quote, or compare the Datadog calculator.
