What will Datadog actually cost you?
Enter your hosts, log volume, APM and metrics to estimate a Datadog invoice from public list pricing — and see which line items drive the bill. Then compare the Kloudfuse in-VPC equivalent. Everything runs in your browser.
How we calculate this — Datadog sources & assumptions
Datadog — Infrastructure Pro $18/host ($15 annual), Enterprise $27/$23. APM $36/$42/$48 per host PAYG (~$31/$36/$42 annual), billed separately from infrastructure. Log ingestion $0.10/GB; indexing $1.06–$5.50 per million events by retention, at a default 1M events/GB. Custom metrics: 100/host included free, $0.05/metric overage. RUM $1.50 per 1,000 sessions. Synthetics: API $5/10k, browser $12/1k. Database monitoring $84/DB host ($70 annual). Data egress: ~$0.10/GB cloud data-out as all telemetry leaves your VPC for Datadog's SaaS (AWS/GCP/Azure list rate; editable above). Host billing uses the 99th-percentile high-watermark of hourly host counts. Source: datadoghq.com/pricing.
Kloudfuse (modeled) — an ingestion-based estimate for comparison, driven by the editable $/GB rate. GB/mo is derived from your inputs: log volume + APM traces (~45 GB/host) + metrics (~0.1 GB/host). This figure is not an official Kloudfuse quote — request a tailored quote for your exact stack.

Datadog pricing questions
The cost drivers behind a Datadog invoice — and how an ingestion-based model changes the math.
How much does Datadog cost at scale?
Datadog cost climbs from several directions at once because each product bills independently — infrastructure hosts, APM hosts (charged on top of infra for the same machines), log ingestion and indexing, custom metrics, RUM, synthetics and database monitoring. Small changes — more log verbosity, deeper tracing, high-cardinality tags, longer retention — compound quickly. Use the calculator above to see which line items dominate.
Why are APM and infrastructure billed separately?
Datadog bills APM per host on top of infrastructure monitoring — the same machine can appear on both invoices. APM hosts must also be licensed as Infrastructure hosts, so APM adoption automatically raises your infra baseline. The calculator keeps them as distinct line items so the overlap is visible.
What makes Datadog bills spike unexpectedly?
Verbose or unfiltered log ingestion, high container churn in Kubernetes, high-cardinality custom metrics (a single user_id tag can spawn millions of series), long retention, and turning on new products like RUM or synthetics. Each bills on an independent unit, so spend rises from several directions simultaneously.
How does Kloudfuse compare on cost?
Kloudfuse runs inside your own cloud account and bills on data ingested — not per host, per APM host, per custom metric, or per session. That turns a multi-dimensional usage bill into a single predictable line driven by GB. The calculator models that equivalent from your inputs; talk to us for an exact quote.
