User access adds a second pricing axis

Basic users are free and unlimited. Full platform users — the ones who get APM, infrastructure, browser and synthetics — are $349 each per month on Pro and $549 on Enterprise, billed at the highest type held in that calendar month.

Cardinality is capped

New Relic bills on ingested gigabytes, so a label explosion does not produce a surprise invoice. It produces a limit: 100,000 unique time series per metric by default, and 15 million total cardinality per account per day.

The platform is SaaS-hosted

There is no self-hosted, on-premises, in-VPC or BYOC option. Three regions are available — US, EU and Japan — and data cannot be moved between them after the account is created.

Common questions when comparing New Relic and Kloudfuse.

Is per-GB pricing not simpler than per-host?

Per-GB is the better of the two axes, and unlimited hosts is a real advantage over a host count. The complication is the second axis: ingest is predictable, while the seat bill scales with how many engineers you want looking at production — the opposite of what you want as an on-call rota grows.

What actually happens when we hit the cardinality limit?

Aggregated data is switched off for the remainder of the UTC day. Raw data continues to be ingested, so nothing is lost permanently, but pre-computed aggregates stop — which means the dashboards and alerts built on them go quiet at exactly the moment a cardinality spike suggests something is wrong. Pruning rules take effect immediately and are the documented mitigation.

Can we keep our OpenTelemetry instrumentation?

Yes, on both sides. New Relic accepts OTel, and so does Kloudfuse — which is the point: if your instrumentation is OTel, the platform underneath it becomes a choice you can revisit rather than a decision you are stuck with.

Does New Relic’s Compute pricing remove the per-user charge?

That is the intent, and Core Compute is marketed as unlimited full-platform access without user licence fees. It is documented as Preview, and the per-CCU rate for Core Compute is not published — only Advanced Compute has a public price, at $0.606 per CCU. Until that rate is published, the model cannot be costed in advance.
