Grafana Cloud bills logs at $0.05 per GB processed, $0.40 per GB written and $0.10 per GB per additional 30 days retained. Queries beyond 100× your written volume are billable as well.

Common questions when comparing Grafana and Kloudfuse.

We already run Grafana. Does Kloudfuse replace it?

No. Kloudfuse ships a Grafana datasource, so you keep Grafana as the front end and change what runs underneath it. What changes is the storage and query layer — operating Mimir and Loki at scale, or the Grafana Cloud bill.

Is self-hosting LGTM actually cheaper?

At small scale, often yes — the software is free and a single-binary Loki on one box is genuinely low effort. At the scale where cardinality and ingest volume start to hurt, the cost moves into headcount and incident load rather than disappearing. Grafana’s own docs say it plainly: you pay for servers, database and staff time.

How does Grafana Cloud BYOC compare to Self-SaaS?

They are structurally similar: a managed deployment inside your own cloud account, where you own the infrastructure. The differences are in the billing model underneath (active series versus terabytes ingested) and in whether the AI layer runs inside the same boundary.

Is Grafana really FedRAMP High?

Grafana Federal Cloud is marketed that way and the underlying authorisation is real, but it is inherited through Palantir’s FedStart programme rather than held by Grafana Labs directly — the marketplace listing is Palantir’s. Whether that satisfies your agency is a question for your authorising official, not for a comparison table.
